Carleman Estimates and Null Controllability of Degenerate/singular Parabolic Systems

چکیده
We study null controllability properties for parabolic coupled systems with degeneracy and singularity occurring in the interior of the spatial domain. This article is the first to consider a problem with singular coupling terms; previous result cannot be adapted to this situation. In particular, we focus on the well posedness of the problem and then we prove Carleman estimates for the associated adjoint problem.

Improved Hardy-poincaré Inequalities and Sharp Carleman Estimates for Degenerate/singular Parabolic Problems
We consider the following class of degenerate/singular parabolic operators: Pu = ut − (xux)x − λ xβ u, x ∈ (0, 1), associated to homogeneous boundary conditions of Dirichlet and/or Neumann type. Under optimal conditions on the parameters α ≥ 0, β, λ ∈ R, we derive sharp global Carleman estimates. As an application, we deduce observability and null controllability results for the corresponding e...
متن کاملNull Controllability Results for Degenerate Parabolic Equations
The null controllability of parabolic operators in bounded domains, with both boundary or locally distributed controls, is a well-established property, see, e.g., (Bensoussan et al., 1993) and (Fattorini, 1998). Such a property brakes down, however, for degenerate parabolic operators even when degeneracy occurs on ”small” subsets of the space domain, such as subsets of the boundary. This talk w...
متن کاملPersistent Regional Null Controllability for a Class of Degenerate Parabolic Equations
Motivated by physical models and the so-called Crocco equation, we study the controllability properties of a class of degenerate parabolic equations. Due to degeneracy, classical null controllability results do not hold for this problem in general. First, we prove that we can drive the solution to rest at time T in a suitable subset of the space domain (regional null controllability). However, ...
متن کاملOn Carleman estimates for elliptic and parabolic operators. Applications to unique continuation and control of parabolic equations
A. Local and global Carleman estimates play a central role in the study of some partial differential equations regarding questions such as unique continuation and controllability. We survey and prove such estimates in the case of elliptic and parabolic operators by means of semi-classical microlocal techniques. Optimality results for these estimates and some of their consequences are pre...
متن کاملControllability of Evolution Equations with Memory
This article is devoted to study the null controllability of evolution equations with memory terms. The problem is challenging not only because the state equation contains memory terms but also because the classical controllability requirement at the final time has to be reinforced, involving the contribution of the memory term, to ensure that the solution reaches the equilibrium. Using duality...
